Ashlyn started throwing up yesterday. Every time they started her tube feeds, a few hours later she would throw up. Tomorrow she is going to have a test done on her GI. And she will more than likely have a tube put in her stomach so she can get good nutrition and move to rehab. This morning she is moving her right arm and leg a lot more. She has not talked yet and that is going to be a big issue, since her injury was in the language part of her brain. The Speak Therapist will be by each day to try and help her to learn to swallow again.
It's been hard seeing her like this. Sometimes we think she recognizes us and other times we don't know. She will follow some commands we give her, so that in encouraging that she is understanding a little. It's been another one of those emotional roller coasters (at least for me, Todd can handle it better). I have to trust that God will restore her to what she was.

TODD AND LIZ, I'VE HEARD ABOUT ASHLYN THRU A FRIEND OF MINE I GRADUATED WITH FROM TEMPLE BAPTIST, ANGIE BROWER. IT REALLY BREAKS MY HEART TO HEAR ABOUT THIS PRECIOUS LITTLE ONE GOING THRU ALL THAT SHE HAS ENDURED OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS. SHE IS IN MY DAILY PRAYERS ASKING GOD TO DELIVER HER FROM THIS TRAGIC EVENT IN HER LIFE AND TO FULLY RESTORE HER HEALTH AND WELL-BEING W/O ANY PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DISABILITIES, AS WELL AS GIVING YOU AND TODD THE SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL, AND MENTAL STRENGTH YOU AS PARENTS NEED ON A DAILY BASIS. I ASK THAT HE BLESSES YOUR NEEDS AS WELL AS YOUR HEALTH AND CONTINUES TO FINACIALLY ALLOW THE TWO OF YOU TO CONTINUE TO BE AT YOUR DAUGHTER'S SIDE IN HER TIME OF NEED. JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW I THINK OF THE FABULOUS FINN'S EACH AND EVERY DAY.

Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me" (Isaiah 49:14-16).
May it be unto you and yours

Dear Liz and Todd, Another day goes by and she is healing a little more. Maybe not in the exact way we hoped for but in exactly the way the LORD wants her to. God is in control of Ashlyn's life, not us. He knows what is best and as hard as this is for the both of you we need to trust him. He loves you Liz, God loves you, He loves you Todd, God loves you, and he loves Ashlyn more than we humans could possibly imagine. Our job is to keep praying and God will answer our prayers in His time and in His way. Dear Heavenly Father we cry out to you for your little one Ashlyn, please dear Father, heal her brain of its injury, her heart of it's last surgeries, and the rest of her body that is in need of healing. Give her parents the peace that surpasses all understanding, and bless them in more ways than they can imagine. Thank you LORD for the blessing that this family is to so very many. Praise you LORD, Amen! Love, the Skinners
ReplyDeleteO Liz, know that our entire family and church are interceding for Ashlyn. During those times that you are down and feeling like you cant carry this anymore, there is an army of prayer warriors hitting the front lines.
